Horton Soy Candle started out over coffee in a kitchen in Horton, Iowa. I was talking with my mother about what they could do to grow their feed store (Horton Feed & Mill). They were roasting soy beans for use in animal feed but, as we all know, there are fewer & fewer farms every year so they wanted to think of other options. They wanted something that was consistant with their core product (soy beans) but able to reach a larger group of customers and still remain intouch with the agricultural community. Thus was born the Horton Soy Candle Co. Our candles are handpoured using only soy wax (no parafin). Our wicks are made of either 100% cotton or hemp, both renewable resorces with no zinc or lead in their core. The fragrances we use are the same as used in organic soaps.
